IT Department releases updated ITR-5 and ITR-6 Utilities for AY 2025-26

The Income Tax Department has released the latest versions of Income Tax Return (ITR) utilities for Assessment Year (AY) 2025-26. This new version was released on October 02, 2025. These utilities are vital tools that streamline the process of Income Tax Return (ITR) filing on the e-Filing Portal. The tax department releases different types of e-filing utilities throughout this period of tax filing.

Release Dates of E-Filing Utilities for AY 2025-26

The key release timelines for all e-filing utilities for the assessment year 2025-26 are as below;

ITR-1 (SAHAJ), ITR-2, ITR-3, and ITR-4 (SUGAM)

The first Excel-based utilities were released in May.
Date of release of Excel Utilities for ITR-1 (SAHAJ) and ITR-4 (SUGAM) was May 30, 2025.
Date of release for Online Mode Utilities for ITR-1 (SAHAJ) and ITR-4 (SUGAM) was June 11, 2025
Date of release of Common Offline Utility to cover ITR-1 to ITR-4 was September 24, 2025

ITR-2

Date of release for ITR-2 was July 11, 2025
Date of release of Online Mode Utility for ITR-2 was July 18, 2025
Date of release of the Latest Excel Utility Update was September 16, 2025

ITR-3

Date of release of Excel Utility was ITR-2 was July 11, 2025
