Tax Inspector had fixed monthly bribe for permitting illegal consignments of Pan Masala into Bengaluru

The Lokayukta Officials of Bengaluru district caught a Commercial Tax Inspector and his associate red-handed while allegedly taking a Rs 20 lakh bribe from a pan masala company representative for granting official favour. The company was found to be Delhi originated.

On April 24, Nijanandamurthy was arrested under the Prevention of Corruption Act after his associate, Manoj M., was allegedly caught red-handed while he was taking the bribe near a hotel at Nagarabhavi on the behalf of the Inspector.

As per his information given, the Lokayukta officials arrested Nijanandamurthy, and also raided his house later.

According to the Lokayukta officials, the accused had fixed a monthly bribe amount for permitting the consignments of this Delhi-based pan masala company into Bengaluru illegally.
