GSTN’s New Advisory for Taxpayers Facing Errors While Filing GSTR-7
The Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN) comes up with an important advisory for the taxpayers facing technical issues while filing their GSTR-7 returns. Numerous users have reported receiving ‘System Failure’ and ‘Schema Validation Failed’ errors during this GST return filing process.
1. For those Getting ‘System Failure’ Error on Invoice Count
Taxpayers who are facing the ‘System Failure’ message while uploading invoices are advised to re-enter the same invoice details, including GSTIN, Invoice Number, and Invoice, and then click on ‘Generate Summary’ on their GSTR-7 dashboard before proceeding to file. This step ensures that the invoice data is correctly captured and validated by the system.
2. For those getting ‘Schema Validation Failed’
For taxpayers experiencing the error ‘Schema Validation Failed’ while uploading JSON files generated through the offline utility tool, GSTN has confirmed that its technical team is actively working on this issue and will resolve it soon. Until the error is resolved, taxpayers are advised to use the online or API mode to file their GSTR-7 return, rather than the offline tool.
Why is GSTR-7 filed?
Form GSTR-7 needs to be filed by the entities responsible for deducting tax at source (TDS) under GST. It helps report details of TDS deducted, the amount paid, and other related information. Filing GSTR-7 in a timely manner ensures a seamless credit flow to the deductee and also ensures compliance with statutory requirements.
Taxpayers are also advised to stay updated through official channels and advisories issued by GSTN to avoid errors or filing delays.
