GST Registration Drive Launched by Kerala State GST Department
Introduction
The State Goods and Services Tax department has launches a GST registration drive in the State in an effort to bring more traders under the scope of taxation and ensure tax returns are filed on time. While presenting the 2025-26 State Budget last February, Finance Minister K.N. Balagopal declared that state-level campaigns would be conducted to expand GST coverage among traders and enhance the filing of GST returns.
The field surveys will be conducted by special tax squads in all districts as part of the drive. As mentioned by the Additional Commissioner, State GST Department, they will visit bussiness to raise awareness about GST registration.
It is mandatory for the Traders dealing exclusively in goods with an annual turnover exceeding Rs 40 lakh and for bussiness with a turnover above Rs 20 lakh that also provide services, to obtain GST Registration.
Traders falling under the scope of Section 24 of the GST Act, which deals with ” Mandatory registration in certain cases”, are required to register irrespective of their annual turnover.
