List of Insecticides Permitted for Registration in India

The Schedule of Insecticides is a significant part of the Insecticides Act, 1968. It defines what falls under the category of “insecticide” according to the Act. The Central Government holds the power to modify the Schedule from time to time under sub-clauses (i) & (ii) of clause (e) of Section 3 of the Insecticides Act, 1968. The Central Government has exercised this power and reconstituted the Schedule of insecticides on 01.06.2023. The reconstituted Schedule is attached herewith.

Purpose of the Schedule

The Schedule serves two main purposes listed here under :

• Regulation : It ensures that the production, sale, and use of insecticides are adequately controlled and monitored to protect public health, the environment, and agricultural produce.
• Classification :The Schedule categorises insecticides based on Common Name and Chemical/Scientific name and helps businesses to decide the product list.
