5 simple steps to track the status of a company on the MCA website

The provision to track Pvt Ltd Company registration status has enhanced the ease of doing business in India exponentially. The Ministry of Corporate Affairs has completely digitized the process of company registration in India. Applicants can now apply for incorporation through an online form SPICe+ available on the official website of the MCA. The form can be digitally signed by any director of the company, using a Digital Signature Certificate. Even the supporting documents that need to be attached with the form are uploaded digitally on the site. After filling out the form, it is required to be submitted to the Registrar of Companies, who shall issue the Certificate of Registration and CIN after the incorporation of the company. Additionally, an online search facility to search the master data of a registered company is also available.

What is the process of registering a company online?

Companies can apply for their registration through the online SPICe+ form available on the MCA website. The form is divided into two parts- Part A and Part B.
Part A : of the form is filled to reserve the name of the company. For this purpose, you need to select a name that is valid, and in pursuance of Section 4 of the Companies Act 2013 and Rule 8 of the Company Incorporation Rules 2014. Also, It should not be visually or phonetically same or similar to the name of an existing company or a registered trademark and should not show the patronage of the government in any form. The names must not be obscene, vulgar, offensive, or undesirable in the opinion of the Central Government. After you have selected the name, you may file an application for its reservation through part A of the form, the application fee for which is Rs.1000, if submitted individually.
Part B : of the form should be filled out and submitted within 20 days from the date of reservation of the company’s name. This part contains the online application for incorporation, along with ten other applications for related services and registrations. The government has allowed a zero filing fee for SPICe+ upto an authorised capital of Rs. 15 lakhs, beyond which Rs.500 shall be charged. The supporting documents required to be attached with the SPICe+ application have been listed below.
  • e-MOA and e-AOA
  • Utility bills (telephone/ electricity/ water/ gas bill) not older than 2 months, as the proof of residence at the office address
  • Proof of Identity and address of the applicant director
  • Stamped and notarised rent agreement and NOC from the landlord if the property is rented
  • Forms DIR 2, INC 9, and INC 14
  • All the documents and the application form needs to be signed by the DSC of the applicant director.

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs has provided a range of e-services and facilities on its official website. These include DIN services, DSC services, E-filing services for LLPs and companies, public search for trademarks, independent director databank, and many more. Tracking Pvt Ltd Company registration status is also one of the e-services available on the MCA website. One can avail of this service to know details like the name of a company, its type, its registration status, its registration number, its date of registration, the number and names of all its directors, etc. Besides, important documents like the MOA of a company, its balance sheet, and Certificate of Registration can also be publicly viewed on the site.

The detailed procedure to track Pvt Ltd Company registration status on the MCA website has been mentioned below.

Step 1: Open the official website of MCA. From the drop-down menu click on MCA services.
Step 2: After clicking on MCA services, another drop-down menu will appear which carries a list of services.
Step 3: Among these services, choose the option “view company and LLP Master Data”.
Step 4: You will be redirected to a new window where you are asked to fill out the name of the company/LLP and its CIN/ LLPIN. After you have entered the details, click on the “submit” option given below.
Step 5: If the information you’ve submitted is true and valid, all the information and significant documents of the company registered with the ROC, are displayed on the site. These details shall include
  • Name of the company
  • CIN
  • ROC Code
  • Registration Number
  • Category, subcategory, and class of company
  • Authorised capital
  • Paid-up capital
  • Number of members, applicable only in the case of companies that do not have authorised capital. 
  • Date of registration
  • Registered office address
  • Registered email address
  • Whether listed or unlisted
  • Date of last Annual General Meeting
  • Date of Balance Sheet
  • Names and DINs of all the directors, along with their contact details and their dates of appointment. 
  • Besides, the MOA and Certificate of Registration of the company can be viewed publicly on the site.
