Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) is the electronic form of certificate which establishes the identity of the subscriber. It is a computer based record that identifies the certifying authority issuing it, contains a subscriber public key having name and other details that can identify a subscriber and can be used to verify that public key belongs to a particular subscriber. In other words DSC can be presented electronically to verify the identity of subscriber, to access online information or services or to sign documents digitally. The importance of Digital Signature Certificate are as mentioned below:
1. Class 0 Certificate: It is only for demonstration/ test purposes.
2. Class 1 Certificate: It is issued to the individual/private subscribers. This class certificate will confirm that user’s name and email address from a definite subject within the certifying authorities’ database
3. Class 2 Certificate: Class 2 Certificate will confirm that the information of subscriber is not conflicting with well-recognized consumer database. It can be issued for both business personnel and individual person.
